Enjoying Stowe

We can’t wait to share this beautiful corner of Vermont with you — here are a few of our favorite ways to spend the weekend.

    • Stowe Pinnacle: Sarah's favorite hike from growing up in Stowe. The Stowe Pinnacle Trail is a moderate hike that leads to one of the most photographed viewpoints in Vermont.

    • Moss Glen Falls: This is a short, easy hike to a spectacular waterfall, the tallest waterfall in Vermont, Moss Glen Falls.

    • Sterling Pond: The Sterling Pond Trail is one of the most popular hikes in Smugglers’ Notch, providing access to a beautiful mountain-top pond.

    • Drive the Toll Road: Journey to the top of Vermont on the historic Auto Toll Road at Stowe Mountain Resort. Since 1923, this scenic 4.5-mile route has brought visitors up the slopes of Mount Mansfield—Vermont’s highest peak—for sweeping views of Lake Champlain, the Adirondacks and the Green Mountains. If you feel up for a hike, you can trek across the ridgeline to the Chin which offers panoramic 360 views the whole way.

    • Gondola Skyride: Ride on the iconic red gondola cabins, which have become synonymous with Stowe Mountain Resort. Grab lunch up top at the Cliff House and then ride or hike down!

    • Cady Hill Forest: With its diverse terrain, great views and easy access from town and the Stowe Recreation Path, Cady Hill Forest is one of the most ridden mountain biking trail networks in the northeast, offering a variety of trails that cater to any level of rider.

    • von Trapp Family Lodge & Resort: Biking, hiking, running, walking - Our venue is a 2,600-acre destination with a network of trails for any type of outdoor activity.

    • Smugglers' Notch State Park: Carved between Mount Mansfield and Spruce Peak, Smugglers’ Notch is one of Vermont’s most legendary mountain passes—a winding corridor of towering cliffs, dense forests and dramatic rock formations—that connects Stowe to Jeffersonville. Go for a drive through or park and walk or hike anywhere along the way.

    • Stowe Country Club: The historic Stowe Country Club is an 18-hole public course established in 1950 on what was once a dairy farm at the turn of the century.

    • Bingham Falls: Hike the 1/4 mile down to the falls and enjoy one of the best swimming holes in Stowe.

    • Waterbury Reservoir: The Waterbury Reservoir is a summer favorite, with sandy beaches and quiet coves perfect for a swim. Rent paddle boards or kayaks and take the adventure over to Elephant Rock for cliff jumping and chilling!

    • Stowe Recreation Path: Stretching 5.3 miles out from the heart of Stowe Village, the Stowe Recreation Path offers one of the most scenic and accessible ways to experience the area. This paved, public trail meanders alongside the Little River and through open meadows, offering a front-row seat to Vermont’s natural beauty.

    • Piecasso: A Stowe classic and one of our favorite casual dinner spots. Great pizza, local beer, and a fun lively atmosphere after a day outside. Don’t skip the garlic knots.

    • Doc Ponds: Perfect for burgers, cocktails, and comfort food.

    • The Bench: Similar vibe to Doc Ponds. If you've never tried poutine, this is your chance!

    • Butler’s Pantry: Classic but elevated breakfast fare located in the heart of Stowe village.

    • Ranch Camp: Charlie’s Stowe favorite! Part restaurant, part bike shop, part brewery hangout — awesome burritos, local beer, and a fun outdoorsy atmosphere.

    • Black Cap Coffee: Great option for grabbing coffee and pastries in town.

    • Cafe on Main: A longtime Stowe favorite right in the center of the village. Great for grabbing a quick breakfast or sandwiches to go for lunch. Don’t miss the BLT.

    • The Alchemist Brewery: A VT beer scene icon- grab a Heady Topper or Focal Banger & get the party started.

    • von Trapp Brewing & Bierhall: Our venue's not-to-be-missed brewery & bierhall! Stop by to familiarize yourself with their pours before the weekend kicks off.

    • Stowe Cider: Cider flights and live music right off the bike path.

    • Idyltyme: One of our favorite spots for a relaxed dinner or drinks. Great bar and a beautiful outdoor patio right along the river.

    • Main Street: Make sure to leave time to walk through Stowe village, where there are a ton of shops and restaurants to check out.

    • Blueberry Picking: Head to North Hallow Berry Farm right up the road from where Sarah grew up to pick your own berries!

    • Ben & Jerry’s: A classic Vermont stop just down the road in Waterbury. Take a tour of the factory, grab some ice cream, and visit the Flavor Graveyard.
